Kobus Partners, private equity firm specialized in renewables and energy infrastructure, completed the first close of its third investment fund: Kobus Renewable Energy III FCR.
This new fund will invest into renewable generation projects (PV solar and wind) in final stage of development, construction and operation. The projects will be located in Spain – Tier1 market –, Portugal and Italy, with the aim of building and operating a portfolio of ~500 MW.
The third vehicle of Kobus Partners, who currently manages ~250 million euros in assets, expects to continue raising capital through 2021 or until the achievement of its target of 150 million euros, coming from institutional and private investors.
“The maturity of the renewable projects and parity of their technology in comparison to fossil-fuelled generation facilities, the environmental regulation and CO2 emissions compliance, as well as the need of renewal of the generation fleet are the engine of this energy transition, which will drive us to a growing market share of the renewable energy, being a clear focus of investment over the course of next years (only in Spain renewable generation fleet is expected to grow between 3,000 and 5,000 MW per year)” according to Carlos García-Monzón and Pablo Guinot, Founding Partners of Kobus.
The target of the fund is completing its investment phase over the course of 3 years, building and operating a portfolio of renewable generation assets, realizing the fund in a time horizon of 6-10 years and providing to its limited partners returns between 10% and 12%.
